Washington, D.C. – “Thirteen years ago this week, one of the world’s leading proponents for peace in the Middle East, Yitzhak Rabin, was tragically shot and assassinated.  Prime Minister Rabin will forever be remembered as a courageous leader and committed public servant who dedicated his life to securing the fate of one of our nation’s strongest and most loyal allies, Israel.

“As a Nobel Peace Prize recipient and supporter of the Oslo Accords, Prime Minister Rabin bravely sought to create a new precedent of peace for a region overburden by  years of conflict and regional divergence.  He understood that diplomacy and not discord is the most effective tool to employ when seeking a long-term peace.

“It is important that we continue to honor his legacy by promoting policies that safeguard the Israeli citizenry and secure a lasting peace for Israel and her neighbors.”
