Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Carson submitted the following statement for the record in support of H.R. 6899, the Comprehensive American Energy Security and Consumer Protection Act: 

“Mr. Speaker, the American people are hurting and in need of immediate relief.  And the relief they need extends beyond their urgent need for lower energy costs.  Mr. Speaker, the American people also need jobs and they need them now.

“And I am proud to say that this bill seeks to achieve both – it seeks to lower energy costs and create jobs.  This legislation will create several green jobs by providing tax incentives to companies that invest in renewable energy resources.

“The creation of green jobs was the focus of a forum I recently hosted in my district.  For too many years, hardworking Hoosiers have seen good-paying manufacturing jobs leave the great State of Indiana.  Through the creation of green jobs, this bill will boost our economic performance and lessen our dependence foreign oil.

“I am proud to support this legislation.  Thank you Mr. Speaker and I yield back the balance of my time.”
