Congressman Carson to Visit with Business, Community Leaders on Near Westside Today Print
April 14, 2009

INDIANAPOLISIn an effort to bring the staff and resources of Indiana’s Seventh Congressional District office to the residents of Indianapolis, Congressman Carson will host a series of events with Near-Westside business and community leaders this afternoon as part of his “Congress on Your Corner” public outreach program.

The proactive Congress on Your Corner initiative is intended to target a specific neighborhood in Indianapolis and put all the resources of the Seventh Congressional District into that area for an afternoon, sharing information about the services offered by the district office, listening to community concerns and answering questions.

Joining the Congressman will be his entire district office staff, who will host their own series of meetings with Near-Westside residents and community leaders this afternoon.

“Serving as a member of Congress is more than casting votes on important issues – it’s also about delivering efficient and effective constituent services to the people of Indianapolis,” said Congressman Carson. “Congress on Your Corner is designed to educate the public about the services we provide and ensure we stay connected with the local, every day issues impacting residents in our neighborhoods.”

Today’s afternoon events will culminate in a town hall forum tonight on the housing foreclosure crisis on the Near-Westside.

Congressman Carson’s Congress on Your Corner Schedule today (Tuesday, April 14) includes the following events:

2 p.m.              Meet with Near-Westside neighborhood leaders to discuss the latest progress with community development efforts through the Great Indy Neighborhoods Initiative. Location: Haughville Library, 2121 West Michigan Street.
