Carson Statement on the Beginning of Ramadan

INDIANAPOLIS - Congressman André Carson today released the following statement on the start of Ramadan:

"For me, like most Muslims, Ramadan has always been a special time to reflect upon God's many blessings. It is a month for renewing our commitment and re-establishing our relationship with God and is an opportunity for Muslims to strengthen their faith and purify their heart and soul.

"As American Muslims fast during this holy month, I hope that they also find time to perform acts of kindness - no matter how small - for their family, friends and neighbors. Ramadan is a time to fulfill our responsibility to support others, improve the lives of those around us and work toward the common good."
