CARSON STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT OBAMA’S JOBS PLAN

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman André Carson today released the following statement in response to President Obama’s American Jobs Act:

“President Obama’s American Jobs Act is a solid first step for getting Americans back to work.  It closes corporate tax loopholes while using those dollars to invest in infrastructure, which creates thousands of construction jobs. It also provides strategic tax cuts to small business to encourage hiring and address the staggering unemployment rate among our veterans who are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.”

“Our next step should be growing American jobs through a long-term, coordinated strategy to rejuvenate American manufacturing. Over the past decade, 10,000 factories closed, mostly from jobs being sent overseas. To regain our status as the greatest economy in the world, we need American companies hiring American workers to make and sell American products.”
