Rep. André Carson’s Statement on the Passing of Rev. Boniface Hardin

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman André Carson released today the following statement regarding the passing of Martin University founder Rev. Boniface Hardin:

Over the weekend, our community bid farewell to a devoted and passionate leader, a man who shepherded our great city through times of racial tumult and galvanized a new era of educational opportunity for the young men and women of our community.

For forty years, Rev. Boniface Hardin has challenged us to expect more for ourselves and for our communities.  He has been a voice of reason and inspiration, and his impact will be felt for countless generations.

I join with all those who knew him in mourning the loss of this civil rights activist, spiritual leader, and founder of the area’s only black-majority college. He will be greatly missed.
