What’s happening with redistricting?

You may have heard. Indiana is the latest state set to be targeted by redistricting – Donald Trump’s attempt to change the way you’re represented in Congress.

Redistricting happens every ten years after the census so congressional districts reflect the people who live in our community. Donald Trump wants Indiana to redistrict five years early. He wants to bend the rules in a way no one has done before so he can amass more power in Congress.

Currently, seven out of nine seats are held by Republicans in Indiana – but Donald Trump wants Indiana to manipulate the way districts are drawn to help Republicans win all nine.

This is wrong.

I attended a rally at the Indiana Statehouse, where fired-up Hoosiers made their voices heard: no new districts.

This is a civil rights issue. To all those who oppose this blatant political maneuver: your voice matters. Throughout history, freedom fighters had the courage to stand up for what was right. Now, it’s our turn.

This isn’t a partisan issue. In recent days, Republican AND Democratic leaders have expressed they are opposed to this blatant power grab.

I want to hear from you – what do you think about redistricting in Indiana five years early?
