December 31, 2015
As your representative, it is a privilege to represent you in Congress. Everyday I’m working to bring your voice to our nation’s capital and make government work for you. With 2015 drawing to a close, here are a few highlights of what we were able to accomplish together over the past 12 months. It is an honor to work hard on behalf of you, your family, and our community.
HELPING HOOSIERS IS MY BIGGEST PRIORITY:
My office is committed to be a place of service where your needs come first. Over the course of 2015, I am proud to let you know that we:
- Helped over 900 Hoosiers who were having difficulties with federal or state agencies
- Responded to over 140,000 of your letters, phone calls, and emails
- Helped secure over $7,000,000 in federal grant money for nonprofit and community organizations within the 7th Congressional District
- Hosted over 140 community meetings and events with residents including my annual job fair and youth opportunities fair
On the 80th Anniversary of Social Security in August, Congressman Carson met with constituents to discuss ways his office could help with social security benefits.
PUTTING HOOSIERS BACK TO WORK:
Creating jobs and putting Hoosiers back to work remains a priority for me. Earlier this year, my office hosted its sixth annual job fair that connected over 1200 residents with 138 employers from across Central Indiana. I have already heard from several participants who were able to get jobs as a result of this year's fair.
In Washington, I am a strong supporter of the Make It In America agenda, which looks to strengthen American manufacturing and bring back jobs that were shipped overseas. Indiana’s economy has been improving, but we still need to make sure that all Hoosiers have an opportunity to find stable, well-paying jobs.
KEEPING HOOSIERS SAFE:
As your representative and as a former law enforcement officer, keeping you and your family safe has always been my top priority. That is why I was so honored to be appointed to the House Intelligence Committee earlier this year. This appointment gives me an inside view of our efforts to protect our country and allows me to play a critical role in the fight against terrorism.
It is an honor and a privilege to serve you. If I can do anything to assist you, please do not hesitate to contact my office. Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2016.
