Getting My Marching Orders -- May 3, 2013
A Note from Congressman Carson
Congress voted last week to address the growing number of flight delays occurring throughout the country, putting a makeshift band aid on the gaping wound sequestration has caused for the middle class. As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation, I recognize these delays were hurting our economy and those Americans who rely on the industry, but I’m just as concerned about the other impacts of sequestration – children being kicked out of Head Start; families being evicted due to loss of rental assistance; and the draining of more than 750,000 jobs from our economic recovery.
Replacing this sequester and getting people back to work must be our top priorities.
This week, I’ve been back home, hearing from you and getting my marching orders. I know you’re tired of Washington looking out for itself rather than your family. That’s why I’ll keep pushing for solutions that don’t make drastic cuts to programs families rely on; to schools that can’t afford more cuts; or to public health programs that keep our communities strong.
As I get ready to head back to Washington, I want to hear from you. Please feel free to reply to this email with your thoughts, questions or concerns.
As always, it’s an honor to serve you.
