Legislation Honors All Who Have Worn Our Nation’s Uniform

WASHINGTON, DC - With Memorial Day on the horizon, Congressman André Carson is urging Americans to recognize tomorrow, and every Friday before Memorial Day, as National Poppy Day.

The American Legion and many of America’s overseas partners have long recognized the red poppy flower as a symbol to remember the fallen and support the living heroes who have served in uniform. National Poppy Day will encourage all Americans to wear a poppy and join this long tradition of remembrance.

Recently, Congressman Carson introduced House Resolution 309, legislation calling for recognition of National Poppy Day in Congress.

“Throughout our history, countless Americans have laid down their lives to protect and defend our country and the people they love,” said Congressman André Carson. “By recognizing National Poppy Day, we stand with these brave men and women and with the families of all those who did not make it home.”
