Carson Statement on House Intelligence Committee Republicans’ Vote to Shut Down Russia Investigation
Washington, DC – Congressman André Carson (IN-07) released the following statement today after House Intelligence Committee Republicans voted to prematurely conclude the Russia investigation:
“This morning, every Republican on the House Intelligence Committee cast a vote to prematurely end the Russia investigation and release an incomplete and misleading report on Russian interference in the 2016 election. By ending the investigation before all witnesses are interviewed and information is gathered, the Majority is putting our country’s national security interests and democracy at risk in order to protect the President, his associates, and this Administration.
“With less than eight months left to go before the mid-term election, I will continue to work with my Democratic colleagues to pursue additional information and talk to witnesses that might provide context to what happened leading up to the 2016 election. We will work to provide the American people with a more accurate explanation of what happened in 2016 and release useful recommendations for how we can protect ourselves against future interference moving forward.”
