Carson Statement on Memorial Day
WASHINGTON, DC - For almost 150 years, we have set aside this day to thank the men and women of our armed forces, and to pay tribute to those who are no longer with us. While we can never repay the debt of gratitude we owe these brave men and women, we pay tribute to them this Memorial Day by remembering what they gave up for the freedoms we enjoy.
The Americans who put on a uniform exemplify the very best of our nation. While today is set aside to remember our fallen soldiers, let us also pay tribute to those who still serve in harm’s way and the countless other veterans who proudly served.
As the grandson of a veteran, I know that military families sacrifice along with their loved ones. My thoughts and prayers are with each mother, father, spouse, son and daughter on this symbolic occasion and I offer my deepest gratitude.
