Congressman Carson Statement on the Beginning of the 2019 Open Enrollment Period
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman André Carson (IN-07) released the following statement today on the first day of the open enrollment period. Starting today, Hoosiers can sign up for health insurance for 2019 from November 1 through December 15 on healthcare.gov:
“Beginning today, Hoosiers can log on to www.healthcare.gov to shop for health insurance plans for 2019. Since the Affordable Care Act was signed in 2010, the law has helped over 245,000 Hoosiers and 20 million Americans gain access to affordable health insurance. Despite the law’s success, Congressional Republicans and President Trump have attempted to repeal the Affordable Care Act, but it continues to remain the law of the land.
“All the plans on healthcare.gov are required by the Affordable Care Act to provide protections for people with pre-existing conditions, free preventive care, and protections requiring comprehensive coverage. In addition, many Hoosiers are eligible for federal tax credits and other financial assistance that can substantially reduce the premiums they pay and the out-of-pocket costs that they owe when they receive care. Please visit healthcare.gov to preview 2019 plans now and to enroll in a plan between November 1st and December 15th. If you have a question about how to enroll, please visit the list of Indiana in-person assisters https://www.in.gov/healthcarereform/2468.htm”
