Rep. Carson’s Statement on the Passing of Center Township Constable Mark A. Duncan
Indianapolis, IN -- Congressman André Carson (D-IN) released the following statement after the passing of Center Township Constable Mark A. Duncan.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Center Township Constable Mark “Tony” Duncan. Tony was part of my family. He served as a mentor, friend and confidant to me and to my grandmother, the late Rep. Julia Carson.
"Beginning at a young age, Tony took me under his wings, imparting political wisdom and serving as a role model. With his passing, our city has lost years of political wisdom that was unmatched to many.
"Tony devoted his life to the Democratic Party, serving as the Treasurer of the Marion County Democratic Party for years. He devoted his life to electing Democratic candidates across our county, state and nation. And as Center Township Constable he was passionate for justice, while serving the people with compassion.
"His passing will leave a hole in the heart of our city and in mine."
