Rep. Carson Statement on Health Care Vote

Jul 28, 2017
Press Release

Washington, DC – Congressman André Carson, (D- IN) released the following statement after this morning’s Senate health care vote:

Very early this morning, my colleagues in the Senate defeated an attempt to take health care away from millions of Americans. This is a victory for Hoosiers and the American people. It is time to move forward and use this opportunity to put politics aside and focus on patients. The Affordable Care Act expanded health insurance coverage, including through the Healthy Indiana Plan 2.0, and put in place important consumer protections, such as guaranteeing access to insurance for individuals with pre-existing conditions. The law is not perfect, and I am open to any ideas to improve it. Instead of undermining the law or working to dismantle it, we should focus on improving the health care system for Hoosier families, by increasing access to quality care, bringing stability to the market, and lowering health care costs.”
