Rep. Carson Statement on Whistleblower Complaint
Washington, DC – Congressman André Carson, a senior member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement regarding the recent whistleblower complaint related to national security.
“I was very disturbed to learn that the Intelligence Community Inspector General designated a whistleblower complaint as urgent, yet he was blocked from providing this information to the House Intelligence Committee. Even more disturbing are news reports that the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel may have barred the Inspector General from fulfilling his duty to provide this information to us in a timely manner.
“Although I was pleased that the Intelligence Committee was briefed by the Inspector General this week, unfortunately, we left with more questions than answers. If the Department of Justice or the President have obstructed the Inspector General’s delivery of this critical information to our committee, we will take all appropriate actions to find the truth. I am looking forward to our open hearing next week, and expect that any roadblocks to receiving information from this complaint will be removed by then.”
