IVY TECH BREAKS GROUND ON NEW PARKING FACILITY
On Monday, I was honored to participate in the ground breaking ceremony at Ivy Tech Community College's new 229,000 square foot, four-story multimodal parking facility. The multimodal facility, located at the downtown Indianapolis campus will add much-needed parking and programming space. In addition to a 500-space parking garage, the facility will house the campus library, tutoring services, and an open computer lab on the first floor. An IndyGo transit stop will also be located on the Illinois Street side of the building. The facility is expected to open in October 2010.
Ivy Tech Community College is the state's largest public post-secondary institution and the nation's largest singly-accredited statewide community college system with more than 120,000 students enrolled annually. It serves as the state's engine of workforce development, offering affordable degree programs and training that are aligned with the needs of its community, along with courses and programs that transfer to other colleges and universities in Indiana.

AMERICA SAVES WEEK
As families across the country are struggling to cope with rising unemployment, tighter credit and strained budgets, financial security is more important than ever. This is a critical time to encourage employees, customers and others to reduce consumer debt and save money. To emphasize the importance of saving, Congress will be introduce H. Res 1082, the Supporting the Goals and Ideals of the Fourth Annual America Saves Week. This resolution emphasizes that savings are essential to financial security. It also acknowledges the tireless efforts of the late Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones to eliminate predatory lending, increase the nation's savings rate, and improve the overall economic situation of all those residing in the United States.
