A weekend to remember
I hope you were able to enjoy this beautiful Memorial Day weekend with your friends and family, especially if you watched the Indianapolis 500 or joined any of the surrounding festivities. It's a privilege to represent the Congressional district that hosts a race that has become the largest one-day sporting event in the world and a significant cultural icon.
I also hope you were able to spend time remembering and honoring those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. We owe so much to our men and women in uniform who have died, those who are still serving, and all of our veterans.
Honoring our veterans has been on the forefront of our minds lately as we have all seen the dysfunction at VA medical facilities across the country. I find this completely unacceptable and believe that all of our veterans have earned access to world-class health care through their service and sacrifice for our country.
For this reason, I sent a letter this morning to Secretary Eric Shinseki asking him to extend his investigation into problems at VA facilities across the nation to find out if those issues are also affecting facilities in Indiana.
Again, if you are a veteran in the Seventh Congressional District who is experiencing an issue with the VA, please contact our office and we will do everything we can to assist you. I want you to know I'm doing all that I can to ensure that our veterans have access to the care they deserve.
Sincerely,
André

Congress On Your Corner: La Voz de Indiana
Over the weekend, staff from my office hosted a "Congress On Your Corner" event at the La Voz de Indiana's annual event honoring mothers at Max Bahr Park. We also recognized La Voz for their outstanding work in Indianapolis and their contributions to our community.
"Congress On Your Corner" enables my staff and I to bring information about the services my office provides to events in the community where we can connect with local Hoosiers. If you would like to request "Congress On Your Corner" at your community event, please contact our office at 317-283-6516. We can't guarantee that we'll be able to fulfill every request, but we'll do our best!
