Happy Thanksgiving!
A Note from Congressman Carson
Dear Friend:
The holiday season is upon us, and tomorrow many of us will gather with our loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving. This joyous occasion is the perfect time to reflect on all that we are thankful for in our lives.
I am thankful for the sacrifice made by our troops to ensure that we at home are safe. Many of our service men and women will be away from their families during the holidays, and it is important that we keep them in mind. I am also thankful for the privilege to serve the 7th District of Indiana in Congress- a humbling responsibility I cherish very much. You have put your trust in me and I am devoted to fighting for the issues that are important to all of you.
As we rejoice in the blessings given to us, I encourage you to help those who are less fortunate this holiday season. There are many ways to give back: volunteer at a local food bank or homeless shelter, deliver Thanksgiving meals to low-income families, donate clothing to charity, or make cards for hospitalized children. In the spirit of the holiday season, let's make sure we do our part in continuing to create a strong and prosperous community.
On behalf of my wife, Mariama, and daughter, Salimah, I wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
André Carson

Hoosiers Helping Others
Our fellow constituents, Maureen and David have an inspiring story to share with us just in time for Thanksgiving. For the past seven years through the Big Brother/Big Sisters of Central Indiana, Maureen and David have volunteered as a Big Couple to their Little Sister, Frances. Frances has experienced many hardships and setbacks in her short life—she was pulled out of school in the 6th grade, during high school she was moved out of state causing her to attend 3 different high schools, and has experienced homelessness for over a year and a half.
Thanks to Maureen and David's support, Frances has maintained perfect attendance and straight A's in school. She is a thriving high school senior and is preparing for college by taking AP courses, completing both the ACT and SAT, and visiting several colleges. Frances recently applied and was awarded a scholarship through the National Association for Education of Homeless Children and Youth in Atlanta, GA. Not only is Frances among 15 winners selected from across the country, but she is also the first student from Indiana to win this award in the history of the organization! We are proud to announce that Frances will be attending college in Indiana to pursue her dream of being a teacher. We could not be prouder of Frances and all that she has overcome! Maureen and David, your dedication to Frances is an inspiration to all of us and we are thankful for all of your hard work!
