Hopeful About 2014
A Note from Congressman Carson
Dear friend,
As your representative in Congress, I take a great deal of pride in knowing that you have chosen me as your voice on matters of most importance to you. I make a point of sharing your thoughts and concerns with my colleagues as we work to move our country forward. Although coming to an agreement has been difficult at times, I am hopeful that we are headed in a positive direction and Congress will again work hand in hand in 2014.
This week we witnessed a great display of bipartisanship as the budget deal passed both the House and the Senate. The bill will reduce our deficit and eliminate some arbitrary cuts known as sequestration that provide critical funding for hunger programs, law enforcement and education. This proves that, with the American people in mind, members of both parties can sit down at the table, hold meaningful discussions and come to a fair agreement for all.
Next year, Democrats and Republicans will have an opportunity to come together again to address some of the most pressing issues facing our country–like taxes, immigration and the minimum wage.. Rest assured that I will continue to reach across the aisle and do what is right for Hoosiers. It is my hope that the current bipartisanship in Washington will continue into next year and I am confident we will have a productive year.
Thank you for putting your trust in me, your thoughts and opinions on the key issues impacting your community is vital for my work in Indianapolis and WashingtonI encourage you to write and call my office and start a discussion about the issues that matter most to you.
As the last Carson Courier for 2013, I want to wish you a happy holidays and happy New Year!!
Regards,
André
