Breaking down MAGA budget cuts.

This week, House committees continued debating the MAGA Republican budget resolution that takes money away from everyday Americans to give tax breaks to billionaires like Elon Musk.

Here's a breakdown of the programs Trump and MAGA Republicans want to cut:

Medicaid: This would be the largest Medicaid cut in American history, impacting 14 million Americans’ health coverage. Let’s do some myth busting: Donald Trump and Republicans insist that they will not touch Medicare or Medicaid. But their bill instructs the Energy and Commerce Committee to cut $880 billion – and 97% of this committee’s total spending is Medicare and Medicaid. They think we’re not paying attention. But we can do the math, and we won’t be fooled.

SNAP: This food benefits program is a lifeline for 42 million Americans. Plus, 80% of SNAP households include a child, senior, or disabled person. SNAP cuts also would impact 25,000 small and mid-sized grocers, whose businesses are supported by this program.

Scam Protections: Did you receive an email recently supposedly from an Indiana agency asking to pay toll fees? It was a phishing scam – and the Trump budget would force even more cuts to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which helps protect Americans from scams.

Federal student aid: Programs like Pell Grants help students attend college without raking in debilitating debt. The Trump budget would slash those programs and leave students in the lurch.

Government employee retirement benefits: Hardworking folks like postal workers would lose out on the benefits they were promised and that they earned. It’s shameful.

None of these cuts go towards “efficiency.” They won’t go to programs that help lower costs or provide healthcare to veterans, seniors, and children. They will go towards even more tax breaks to Trump’s billionaire buddies.

We must keep up the pressure – it’s working. We only need a handful of Republicans to listen to their constituents and do the right thing FOR the American people by voting against these terrible cuts.

Let’s keep speaking out. Let’s keep sending a message to Congress – America needs Medicaid.
