A Note from Congressman Carson

Dear Friend:

Last week, the 113th Congress - the most diverse in history - gathered for the first time in Washington, D.C. It was a powerful celebration of our progress as a nation, but now that the swearing-in ceremonies are over, we have an immense responsibility to work together - regardless of party - and tackle the challenges facing American families.

I've received calls, emails, and letters from a number of you, and I know you're concerned about how we will replace sequestration (automatic, across-the-board spending cuts), how we can address our rising debt, and what steps are being taken regarding gun violence in the U.S. I will be working with my colleagues to confront these serious issues head on as this Congress gets under way. Please know, I will do my best to keep you informed of my deliberations, and I welcome your input as legislation moves through the process.

I'm hopeful that the 113th Congress learns from past mistakes and comes together to get the job done. We have a lot of work to do.

Best,

André
