Investing in America.
Over the last 4 years, House Democrats have been hard at work to make life better for everyday, middle-class Americans.
It’s common sense – when we invest in infrastructure and clean energy, we also invest in our economy. I voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Act to strengthen our country’s infrastructure, lower costs, and create thousands of good-paying jobs.
We’ve already announced millions of projects throughout the country that are making a difference. Here’s how those investment is paying off in Indiana:
-$4.7 billion in roads, bridges, public transit, ports, and airports, plus electric school and transit buses. I’m making sure Indianapolis transit receives its fair share. Last year, IndyGo received $19 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure law to purchase 40-foot, diesel-electric hybrid buses to replace older buses in its fleet.
-$450.6 million to provide clean water across Indiana and improve our water infrastructure. I wrote in the Indianapolis Recorder about how important this investment is, particularly for the Black community. When poor water quality struck residents of Flint, Michigan, it ignited a public health crisis that continues to this day. After years of considering poor water infrastructure as a problem too expensive to fix, we’re finally doing something about it. There is no safe level of lead, particularly in children, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is ensuring everyone – no matter where you live – has access to clean water.
-$897.4 million to accelerate the deployment of clean energy, clean buildings, and clean manufacturing, plus clean energy tax incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act. These investments will sustain jobs now and for generations to come – and even more importantly, it will help sustain our planet’s health for generations to come.

Honoring Hoosier Women Heroes:
Every month, I recognize a Hoosier woman veteran who is making a difference in our community. In May, Dr. Dorothy “Doty” Simpson-Taylor was the recipient of my Sheila Corcoran Hoosier Women Hero Award. Before Doty built a community of compassion and healing for her fellow women veterans in our community, she honorably served in the US Air Force. She is truly a living legend with a legacy of service spanning over five decades, and she continues to spread her joy and knowledge to those who need it most. Do you know a female Hoosier veteran who deserves to be recognized? Let me know by filling out this form!
