Lowering the cost of insulin to $35/month

You asked, Democrats delivered.

One of the most common problems I hear about from constituents is the high cost of healthcare and prescription drugs. Previously, taking on Big Pharma seemed like an impossibility. But thanks to President Biden and Democrats’ leadership, we’re making real change that you can see.

I proudly voted for the Inflation Reduction Act, which already capped the price of insulin at $35 per month for those on Medicare. Now, three major insulin manufacturers are offering either price caps or savings programs that lower the cost of the drugs to $35 for many patients, starting with Indianapolis-based Eli Lily. This comes after President Biden called on pharma companies to bring prices down – and it’s working.

Over 8 million Americans rely on insulin, and no one should have to choose between this lifesaving care and putting food on the table. That’s why this initiative is so important.

But insulin isn’t the only help we’re making more accessible. Cheaper hearing aids are in stores now over the counter. Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, 4 out of 5 Americans can find health care plans on the Marketplace for $10 a month. And President Biden’s drug price negotiations for Medicare will lower the cost of at least 10 common prescriptions.

We’re not just talking about progress – we’re making it happen. Stay tuned this year for more ways Democrats will continue working to lower costs and make life better for everyday Americans.

Honoring Hoosier Women Veterans

Far too often Hoosier women veterans are overlooked, underrepresented, and do not always receive the support and recognition they deserve - even within veteran communities. That’s why I’m honored to start a new initiative recognizing outstanding Hoosier women veterans who have gone above and beyond for our nation and community.

Each month, I will highlight a different Hoosier woman. In December, we honored Sheila Corcoran, who served 24 years before becoming Indiana’s first female State Commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Sheila exemplifies what it means to serve our country, and Indiana is honored to have her leadership.

Do you know a Hoosier female veteran who deserves to be recognized? Let me know by filling out this form!
