Need help paying home heating bills?

Winter can mean dangerously cold temperatures for many people. It can also mean households have to face an impossible choice: paying for home heating and cooling or paying for other household essentials, like food and medical care.

No one should have to make this choice. That’s why I’m proud to announce Indiana has been awarded $75 million to assist low-income families ahead of the winter season through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

To help make it simple for households to quickly identify if they are eligible for this energy assistance, the Office of Community Services in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is launching energyhelp.us, which is available in Spanish, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

This program is made possible through the Continuing Appropriations Act of 2024, as well as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is providing once-in-a-generation funding to build up our nation’s roads, bridges, clean water, and more – and we’re making sure no one is left behind on that growth.

LIHEAP funding will be used to:

     -Help with heating bills

     -Restore or prevent disconnection

     -Repair or replace heating equipment

-Install weatherization measures to help keep homes safe and warm

Interested in seeing if you qualify? Visit energyhelp.us or call the National Energy Assistance Referral (NEAR) hotline toll-free at: 1-866-674-6327.

21 Days Without a Speaker

Congress is paralyzed until House Republicans elect a Speaker – we can’t work to lower costs, invest in working families to grow the middle class, and protect our national security.

House Democrats are committed to putting People Over Politics with a bipartisan path forward. With a government shutdown looming, it’s more important than ever that we come together.

I implore my colleagues – stop this partisan bickering and find common ground so we can deliver for the American people.

13,000 New Jobs Coming to Indiana

This week, the Biden-Harris administration announced Indiana-based Heartland BioWorks as one of 31 Regional Innovation and Technology Hubs (Tech Hub) selected nationwide!

Heartland BioWorks marks Indiana’s third tech hub designation in a year, and I was proud to support this application with my Indiana colleagues from both sides of the aisle.

The Tech Hubs Program was authorized by the CHIPS and Science Act, which I voted for and was signed by President Biden just last year – and it’s already delivering for Hoosiers. This Tech Hub will spur economic growth by creating good-paying, union jobs and empower our state to be a global leader in the industries of the future. Thanks to this investment, Indiana will be at the forefront of making and deploying new life-saving medicines.

The Heartland BioWorks Tech Hub is estimated to create over 13,000 new jobs over the next ten years just in Indiana, all while promoting the larger Bidenomics agenda: creating a stronger, more resilient economy that pays off for the American worker.

Success Story of the Week:

"Your office’s help allowed my family time to be together while Rosita seeks treatment for her brain tumors. Me and my family are forever grateful for your assistance."
