NEW BILL ALERT: Safe Gun Storage

I wanted to give you a few updates on what’s happening in Congress. As your representative, I’m always working to keep our neighborhoods safe — especially for our children. That’s why I’ve introduced the Gun Safety Incentive Act, a commonsense step toward preventing accidental shootings and keeping firearms out of the wrong hands.

My bill offers a tax credit to gun owners who purchase secure storage devices, such as gun safes or lockboxes. It's a simple idea with lifesaving potential. By encouraging responsible gun ownership and safe storage, we can reduce tragic accidents and help keep firearms away from children, those at risk of suicide, and others who should not have access to them. 

I respect the rights of lawful gun owners — and we also have a duty to protect our families and communities. Safe storage is a responsible, effective, and bipartisan solution.

There’s not just one solution to gun violence – which is why in addition to my bill, I’ll keep advocating for more funding for community organizations addressing gun violence and working to address the root causes of violence. We must address housing insecurity, education access, and food access to create a stronger, safer future. 

I’ll continue fighting for policies that protect lives and uphold our Indianapolis values. As always, I welcome your thoughts and feedback.

Epstein Files

House Republicans adjourned Congress early to prevent the release of the Epstein files. Now we know why: The Justice Department has told Donald Trump he is in the files.

Congress won’t return to session until September at Donald Trump’s insistence to prevent a vote on releasing the Epstein Files, which detail crimes of child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and his associates. Now we know why they took this extreme step.

New reporting reveals that Attorney General Pam Bondi told Trump in May that his name is in these files. I’m fighting to give the American people the truth: release the files.

Transparency is a core foundation of our democracy. No elected official should be able to hide the secrets of the elite. I’m demanding answers – if Republicans and Donald Trump want to keep the Epstein files secret, we need to know why.
