Open enrollment happening NOW
Today is the start of open enrollment for healthcare.gov – and thanks to Democrats’ work last Congress, Americans can save more money than ever on their health insurance.
Thanks to the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, more people than ever qualify for help paying for health coverage, even those who weren’t eligible in the past. In addition, most people currently enrolled in a federal Marketplace plan may qualify for more tax credits, and health insurance premiums after these new savings will go down.
Now, those lower costs will continue through 2025 thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which I was proud to support. When you apply for Marketplace coverage, you’ll discover if you qualify for a premium tax credit that lowers your monthly premium. The amount of your premium tax credit depends on the estimated household income that you put on your Marketplace application. Four out of 5 Americans should be able to find plans for $10 or less per month.
But why should you apply for Marketplace insurance? No one plans to get sick or hurt, but most people need medical care at some point. Health insurance covers those essential health costs and can be crucial to maintaining your health. If you experience unexpected, high medical costs, Marketplace insurance keeps you protected. You can also get free preventative care, like vaccines, screenings, and some check-ups, even before you meet your deductible.
You can start by visiting healthcare.gov or contact the Health Insurance Marketplace by telephone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-318-2596. On healthcare.gov, you can compare health insurance plans, enroll in, or change a plan, find out about tax credits, and get more answers to commonly asked questions.
Open enrollment is happening NOW until December 15. Apply for coverage today!
Succes Story of the Week:
“I served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2002-2006, including overseas in Iraq in 2006. In November of last year, I began to apply for veteran disability benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs. After the initial application and not getting answers online or the 1-800 number, I asked André Carson’s office for help in June of 2023. After that, I was scheduled for more exams by the VA. Then again I asked for help in October 2023 after completing my last set of VA exams. Several days later three of my disability claims were approved by the VA and I was now entitled to disability and to receive health care provided by the VA for the first time since leaving the Marines in 2006. Heather made me feel like my case was important and that she would find the answers to my questions and get the status from her contacts in the government.”
