Why we need Marketplace insurance.
Open enrollment for healthcare.gov is open now until December 15th. But why is access to health insurance so important?
I fought hard to pass the Affordable Care Act, which was a monumental step to expand healthcare access we’re still benefiting from today. Since its enactment in 2010, the Affordable Care Act has led to an historic advancement of health equity by providing health coverage to millions of Americans -- without limits. Before this transformational legislation, those with pre-existing conditions were left without options. Now, Americans have access to essential health benefits, including preventive and rehabilitative care, prescription drugs, wellness visits, contraceptives, mental health and substance use treatment, and more.
I won’t stop building on this progress to make health coverage accessible to even more Americans. Thanks to the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, more people than ever qualify for help paying for health coverage, even those who weren’t eligible in the past. In addition, most people currently enrolled in a federal Marketplace plan may qualify for more tax credits, so health insurance premiums after these new savings will go down. Four out of 5 Americans should be able to find plans for $10 or less per month.
All you need to do is take the first step. If you’ve never had Marketplace Insurance before, you can create an account. If you’re a returning user, you can log in to update your application, compare plans, and change or renew for 2024. That way you'll know your savings are correct and that your plan meets your current needs and budget. Get started TODAY at healthcare.gov, where you can compare health insurance plans, enroll in or change a plan, find out about tax credits, and get more answers to commonly asked questions.
You can also contact the Health Insurance Marketplace by telephone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-318-2596.
You have less than a month to apply for health coverage – the deadline to apply is December 15th. I encourage everyone to utilize these resources and apply for coverage today!
Success Story of the Week:
“I recently experienced an unexpected delay in my immigration case that put my entire life on hold. I decided to contact Congressman André Carson by writing him a letter. I received a call from his office within a week, and his staff told me they would help me contact USCIS. I provided them with my information, and after a few weeks, I received a response, and my case was approved. I can't express my gratitude enough to Congressman Carson and his team. I was so close to losing everything I have worked hard for. They literally saved my life, and now I can continue with my life, thanks to them.
"Congressman André Carson and his team’s unwavering support transformed a challenging situation into a triumphant success. Their dedication not only resolved my immigration case but also restored my hope and dreams. Forever grateful for their life-changing service.”
