DEADLINE: Apply for flood assistance by October 25

October 23, 2026
Past Newsletters

Were you affected by storms and flooding between August 11-24? You have until Sunday, October 25 to apply for federal FEMA assistance. This is federal funding I helped secure to help you and your family recover from the terrible storms we experienced in August.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is the federal agency responsible for providing these funds in the wake of a disaster. I’ve long supported fully funding and strengthening FEMA – just last year, my amendment to improve FEMA grant programs passed the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in our FEMA Reform Act of 2025. This bill improves disaster response and recovery programs – the same programs Indiana is now relying on. Today, we’re seeing just how important a strong, well-funded FEMA is.

Here’s how to apply for FEMA assistance by Sunday, October 25:

Apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. If you use a relay service, give FEMA your number for that service.

For in-person help applying, submitting documents, or asking questions about your case find a support location at on.in.gov/August2026Disaster.
