Join me for a report on ICE and Miami Correctional Facility

I’m calling for an end to ICE detention at Miami Correctional Facility. I invite you to join me and special guests ACLU of Indiana and the Indiana Organizing Project for a report on the conditions at this facility – where two men died in ICE custody and at least 800 individuals have been denied medication.

In April, I visited Miami Correctional Facility in Bunker Hill, IN, where hundreds have been detained by ICE.

This flawed facility has a troubled past, with report after report of serious physical and psychological harm. My visit fueled additional concerns that detainees and inmates were receiving inadequate medical treatment, being denied legal resources, experiencing frequent lockdowns, and did not have access to proper clothing and basic hygiene items.

I sent an official inquiry to ICE following my visit. Unfortunately, many of my questions remain unanswered – but we know enough to know that ICE detention at Miami Correctional Facility must end.

ICE confirmed that detainees missed a staggering 799 doses of medication. Earlier this year, two men in ICE detainment at Miami Correctional died in less than two months. Protecting the health and safety of those in ICE custody is not optional – it’s a legal requirement.

Join us on Thursday, August 27 at noon on Zoom or streaming on YouTube and Facebook for this special report.
