Carson Announces Service Academy Nominees
INDINANAPOLIS – Today, Congressman André Carson announced the names of the 10 young men and women from Indiana's 7th Congressional District who have been selected as nominees to the United States Services Academies. Their names have been submitted for consideration as members for the academy classes entering in July 2015.
Each U.S. Representative and Senator may have five cadets at each of the four service academies (Naval, Air Force, Military and Merchant Marine) at any one time. All candidates must be U.S. citizens and legal residents of Indiana and never been married.
"These young people represent some of the best and brightest that Indiana has to offer," said Carson. "These recipients are determined, bright, and passionate individuals who will be outstanding leaders in our nation and our community."

Receiving a congressional nomination is required for admission but does not guarantee admission to an academy. Academy admissions offices evaluates each candidate's high school record, class rank, standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, fitness exam and moral character before making their selections.
