CARSON, BURTON MAKE WAGER WITH VIRGINIA REPRESENTATIVES
Reps. Scott, Cantor to participate in friendly wager with Indiana Congressmen
WASHINGTON, D.C. – More than a spot in the national championship game will be on the line Saturday when Butler University and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) meet in the NCAA tournament.
Representatives André Carson (IN-07) and Dan Burton (IN-05) have agreed to a friendly wager with their colleagues from Virginia, Representatives Bobby Scott (D-VA-03) and Eric Cantor (R-VA-07).
Rep. Scott and Rep. Cantor will send Virginia wine and gourmet peanuts to Indiana if Butler is victorious, while Rep. Carson and Rep. Burton will send cupcakes with VCU's colors from The Flying Cupcake and a popcorn tin from Just Pop In.
"Butler has continued to prove the doubters wrong," said Carson. "While VCU has had a good run, I'm certain that the Bulldogs will move on to the final game. But in the unlikely event that Butler doesn't win, my friends from Virginia will be receiving some of the best that Indianapolis has to offer."
Rep. Dan Burton stated "Butler has shown they have the tenacity and the fight to take on any challenger. VCU has had a very impressive tournament run, but I'm confident the Bulldogs will come out on top."
The Flying Cupcake has two locations in Indianapolis and Just Pop In has locations in Broad Ripple and the Indianapolis International Airport.
