Carson Chides President Over Veto of Medicare Bill
Washington, D.C. – Congressman André Carson issued the following statement today after President Bush's veto of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act:
"By vetoing this bipartisan Medicare bill, the President has once again turned his back on our nation's seniors and a blind eye to one of our country's most vital public health programs.
"Many of our nation's Medicare recipients are struggling to make ends meet on limited incomes that have forced many of them to choose between putting food on their tables or prescription drugs in their medicine cabinets. Such realities make the President's veto of this bill all the more appalling and shocking.
"This callous veto is a slap in the face to one of our nation's most deserving populations, low-income seniors. To abandon our nation's most vulnerable seniors in their time of need, exhibits this Administration's lack of respect and loyalty towards our nation's elderly population."
