WASHINGTON, D.C.– Congressman André Carson released the following statement after today's announcement that Carbon Motors will locate its manufacturing operations in Indiana at the shuttered Visteon Plant in Connersville, creating thousands of new, green jobs for Hoosiers across the state.
"I'd like to welcome Carbon Motors to the great state of Indiana.
"Carbon Motors' commitment to the Hoosier state is a game-changer—in every sense of the expression.
"Indiana is positioning itself as a major player in this national push for clean energy technology. With today's landmark move by Carbon Motors, creating 10,000 direct and indirect green jobs and spurring nearly $3 billion in investment, Indiana is showing that it's ready to help lead America's economic comeback by shaping a new, 21st Century green economy.
"And while the focus of today is certainly the significant economic boost and the thousands of Hoosiers across the state who will be put to work, it's also important to highlight what today's announcement means for the future of public safety.
"As a former law enforcement officer, I know first hand that our brave men and women in uniform are patrolling neighborhoods in vehicles that are not built to effectively protect them.
"Thanks to advancements made by Carbon Motors, law enforcement agencies now have an option for a purpose-built vehicle that will protect our public safety heroes and improve their ability to keep us all safe.
"And thanks to the hard work of leaders at all levels of our state, as well as our talented, highly-skilled Hoosier workforce, these high-tech public safety vehicles will roll off the assembly line right here in Indiana."
