Carson to Lead Community Discussion on Financial Literacy

INDIANAPOLIS - Recognizing the need for young people to have an understanding of financial basics during a tough economy, Congressman André Carson will lead a community discussion on financial literacy today at Arsenal Tech High School. As part of the event he will visit with students who have participated in the financial literacy program at the high school.

The financial literacy program at Arsenal Tech teaches students the basics of finance from how to balance a checkbook to understanding car loans and mortgages. Upon completion of the course, students work in a full-service credit union that is located on Arsenal Tech's campus.

Congressman Carson will be joined by community members, students and business leaders to discuss financial literacy legislation he has authored as well as highlight the crucial need to teach young people about how they can take control of their personal finances.
