Carson: Nobel Prize a Testament to Obama's Promotion of American Values

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Carson issued the following statement after President Obama was named the recipient of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.
"Since taking office, President Obama has worked diligently to reverse negative foreign policy trends espoused through eight years of the Bush Administration—refocusing on diplomacy and international cooperation and returning the United States to a respected position of leadership on the international stage.
"In just ten months, President Obama has rallied the international community by promoting America's closely held values of universal dialogue and cultural understanding. From his landmark address to the Muslim world, to his efforts to promote constructive dialogue with nations who have traditionally opposed American foreign policy, to his determined goal of ending nuclear proliferation, the President has proven to be a leader capable of moving us past historic stalemates in pursuit of a more peaceful and prosperous world.
"So today, I wholeheartedly congratulate President Obama on this prestigious award, knowing that his tireless effort to reaffirm American values abroad has begun to rekindle hope for peace among millions of people in challenged countries across our globe."
