Carson Objects to Supreme Court’s Upholding of Republican-Inspired Voter ID Law
April 28, 2008
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Congressman André Carson released the following statement today regarding the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to uphold an Indiana voting identification law that requires voters to produce photo identification when going to the polls to cast their ballots:
"The U.S. Supreme Court's decision to uphold a biased law that disenfranchises both minority and elderly voters is alarming and contradicts the tenets of our nation's representative democracy. More laws need to be put in place that turnout the vote rather than discriminatorily suppress it."
