Carson Praises President Obama's First 100 Days in Office
April 29, 2009
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman André Carson issued the following statement praising President Barack Obama for his accomplishments throughout his first 100 days in office:
"Upon taking office 100 days ago, President Obama faced some of the most trying challenges in recent memory. The Obama Administration has aggressively and strategically addressed our nation's deepening recession, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and sought to increase our diplomatic ties with our transatlantic allies. The President's actions demonstrate the bold and decisive leadership that he promised throughout his campaign.
"As a Member of Congress, I have been pleased to work with an administration whose innate connection with the American public is guiding us past the myriad of setbacks we inherited from the Bush Administration. From the landmark American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to the formation of one of the most fiscally transparent budgets in our nation's history, Congress and the President have worked together to bring relief to millions of Americans who are struggling to make ends meet amid our ongoing financial crisis.
"As we mark President Obama's first 100 days in office, his impressive slate of accomplishments on behalf of the American people are clear. It is also clear, however, that the days ahead will be the true test of his new presidency. In the coming months, I look forward to working with President Obama to reform our broken health care system, bring the unemployed back to work, and secure long-term economic stability for future generations of Americans."
