CARSON: REPUBLICAN BUDGET ENDS MEDICARE GUARANTEE
Republican 2012 budget hurts seniors, students, job creation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman André Carson voted against the Republicans' 2012 budget that shifts costs to seniors, working families and America's most vulnerable citizens.

"The Republican budget is not only irresponsible, it's unconscionable. Ending Medicare as we know it to make permanent tax breaks for the wealthy and maintain tax loopholes for companies that ship jobs overseas highlights the misplaced priorities of Republicans in Congress.

"The budget is about choices, and Republicans have refused to put forth a plan that creates jobs, grows our economy, and protects our seniors. The American budget is a moral document and a statement of our values and priorities. There is no doubt that we must reduce our deficit, but it must be done in a responsible way. It is neither courageous nor bold to offer policies that harm our most vulnerable citizens."
