CARSON STATEMENT ON ARIZONA SHOOTING INVOLVING REP. GIFFORDS

INDIANAPOLIS - Congressman André Carson released the following statement today on the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and others at an event in Tucson, AZ this morning:

"I am sickened and saddened by the events in Arizona today that have gravely wounded Congresswoman Giffords, members of her staff and some of her constituents in Tucson. Congresswoman Giffords is a valued colleague and a young, energetic and dedicated member of Congress. Her commitment to the people of her district is unquestioned and that dedication was on display as she was meeting with her constituents today when this senseless tragedy occurred.

"My thoughts and prayers go out to her husband Mark and her family, her staff and their families, the other victims and the people of Arizona."
