Carson Statement on the Closure of the Indianapolis Carrier Plant
Washington, DC – Today, Rep. André Carson (D-IN) issued the following statement:
“Today, my thoughts are with the workers and their families who will be affected by the closing of the Indianapolis Carrier plant,” said Rep. André Carson. “Unfortunately, there is no easy solution when an announcement like this is made. Ensuring that our fellow Hoosiers land on their feet will require a cooperative effort by the federal, state, and city governments as well as local community organizations. We must all do what we can to provide our neighbors with the resources and assistance they need in this difficult time. In the coming months, my office will stand ready to help in any way possible.”
“This announcement is an unfortunate reminder that despite economic growth our country continues to struggle with the impacts of trade policies that disadvantage American workers. Regardless of party affiliation, we have an obligation to promote trade and manufacturing policies that strengthen our economy and support middle-class families. I will continue to be a strong advocate for legislative proposals like the “Make It In America” plan which encourages businesses to invest and create good-paying jobs in states like Indiana.”
