CARSON STATEMENT ON DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL VOTE
INDIANAPOLIS - Congressman André Carson released the following statement regarding today's vote to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" (DADT) policy, which bans gays and lesbians from serving openly in uniform:
"The survey conducted by the Department of Defense stated very clearly that our men and women in uniform support repeal and that by ending this discriminatory policy, we will not only preserve our national security, but strengthen it.
"This marks the second time that the House has approved a measure to repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell in this Congress, while the Senate continues its struggle to act. There is no reason to delay this any longer, and it is my hope that the Senate acts on this repeal before adjournment."
