CARSON STATEMENT ON JOBS REPORT
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman André Carson released the following statement today in response to the U.S. Department of Labor's report that the U.S. economy added 192,000 jobs in February.
"Today's report is encouraging as we saw the unemployment rate fall to its lowest rate since April 2009 and the private sector add jobs for the 12th consecutive month. While the numbers show that our economy is moving in the right direction, we still have a long way to go to put our economy back on track.
"It's because there are so many Hoosiers still unemployed that I am concerned to see Republicans continuing to ignore job creation in this new Congress. Republicans have yet to put forth one proposal that will help put Americans back to work and instead have chosen to focus on reckless spending cuts that will stop our economic momentum and obliterate as many as 700,000 jobs. We can and must get our budget under control without reversing the gains we have made. Republicans should take notice and help create the jobs that Hoosiers are looking for."
