CARSON STATEMENT ON VETERANS DAY

INDIANAPOLIS - Congressman André Carson today released the following statement in recognition of Veterans Day:

______________________________________________________

"Today, Americans pause to recognize the brave men and women who have served in our nation's armed forces. Their devotion to ensuring our freedom and democracy is an inspiration for us all.

"As we remember the sacrifices veterans and their families have made, we must also work to renew our commitment to the millions of veterans across our country and the more than 63,000 in the 7th Congressional District. Whether it's measures to expand educational opportunities or provide economic relief, we must guarantee that the men and women who have served this nation receive the benefits they need and deserve.

"Over the past few years we've seen tremendous accomplishments like the New GI Bill, enhanced military pay, and the largest funding increase for health care in the 78-year history of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In the upcoming Congress I will continue to support America's service members and do everything possible to honor them for making our freedom possible."
