Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman André Carson issued the following statement after the House passed a resolution recognizing the life of athlete and musician Wayman Tisdale, who passed away on May 15, 2009:

"I was proud to join my House colleagues in passing a resolution honoring the life and accomplishments of Wayman Tisdale.  From his years as an Indiana Pacer to his distinguished career as a jazz musician, Wayman Tisdale captured the imagination of Hoosiers across our state and left a lasting impression on sports and music fans everywhere.

"I was privileged to meet Wayman and was instantly struck by the innate skill and gracious charisma that has rightfully endeared him to so many Americans.  While I know that he will be deeply missed, I am certain that the mark he made through his life and accomplishments will carry on for years to come."
