Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman André Carson issued the following statement recognizing the eighth anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001, where 2,974 Americans and foreign nationals were killed at the World Trade Center, Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
"My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims, their families and every American who continues to struggle with the tragedy of the September 11 attacks.
"As we reflect on the tremendous loss we experienced that day, let us also remember the wave of courage, resolve and unity that swept over this great nation and allowed us stand tall in the face of great tragedy and tremendous adversity. It is this same strength and togetherness that must carry forward as we continue to fight back against hate, terror and extremism in our pursuit of a more peaceful and prosperous world."
