Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and Congressman André Carson (D-Ind.), Chairman of the Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Counterproliferation Subcommittee, issued the following statement on the bomb threats against Historically Black Colleges and Universities:
"We are deeply disturbed by the bomb threats today against at least six Historically Black Colleges and Universities, which follow a series of similar threats made earlier this month. This afternoon, the Intelligence Committee requested information from the FBI on these threats. We expect to be briefed at an appropriate time.
"There is no denying the surge of racially-motivated violent extremism and the threat it poses to our nation. We will remain focused on ensuring that all appropriate resources are utilized to identify and prosecute the perpetrators of these threats, and to combat the scourge of white supremacist violence and terrorism."
