INDIANAPOLIS- Today, Congressman André Carson issued the following statement upon receiving word that President Obama has nominated Chief Deputy Kerry Forestal of the Marion County Sheriff's Department to serve as U.S. Marshall for Indiana's Southern District:
"As a former law enforcement officer, I am incredibly proud to congratulate Chief Deputy Kerry Forestal-one of our city's finest and most accomplished law enforcement officers-on his nomination by President Obama to become a U.S. Marshall. Chief Deputy Forestal has been a model officer for over three decades and truly deserves the honor of taking his career in public service to the next level as a U.S. Marshall.
"Throughout his career, Chief Deputy Forestal has shown strong leadership and judgment, courageously protecting his fellow Hoosiers. From his time as a narcotic and vice detective to today, overseeing over 1,000 officers, Chief Deputy Forestal has served in the best traditions of the Marion County Sheriff's Department.
"Again, I offer my sincere congratulations to Chief Deputy Forestal on his nomination to become a U.S. Marshall for the Southern District of Indiana. His decades of service and willingness to sacrifice to keep his fellow Hoosiers safe make him a very deserving candidate to serve this community as U.S. Marshall."
