Congressman Carson Statement on Indiana Selection for Tech Hub

October 24, 2023

INDIANAPOLIS—The Biden-Harris administration has announced Indiana-based Heartland BioWorks as one of 31 Regional Innovation and Technology Hubs (Tech Hub) selected nationwide.

The Tech Hubs Program was authorized by the CHIPS and Science Act, which Congressman Carson voted for and was signed into law in August of 2022. Congressman Carson also joined the Indiana Congressional delegation in a letter of support for the state’s application.

Today, Congressman Carson made the following statement:

“President Biden signed the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act into law just last year, but it has already paid dividends to the Hoosier state. Heartland BioWorks marks Indiana’s third tech hub designation in a year, and I was proud to support this application with my Indiana colleagues from both sides of the aisle.

“This Tech Hub will spur economic growth by creating good-paying, union jobs and empower our state to be a global leader in the industries of the future. Thanks to this investment, Indiana will be at the forefront of making and deploying new life-saving medicines.

“It’s not just about global accolades, though – Heartland BioWorks will have a tangible impact right here at home. These hubs will create good-paying, union jobs in the communities where workers live – with an estimated 13,000 new jobs over the next ten years – and it will promote the larger Bidenomics agenda: creating a stronger, more resilient economy that pays off for the American worker.”
