INDIANAPOLIS – Local community health centers will be receiving nearly $1.8 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), Congressman André Carson announced today.
These grants, administered by the Department of Health and Human Services, will enable five local health centers to continue providing health care to thousands of underprivileged Indianapolis residents. This is the second time this month that local health centers have received significant grants funding from the ARRA.
"In this difficult economic climate, families across our city are in desperate need of affordable health care," Congressman Carson said. "These grant dollars will help our local health centers increase access to high quality, professional health care for families and individuals who need it most."
The local health centers receiving grants include:
- Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County - $195,626
- Healthnet, Inc. -$625,198
- Indiana Health Centers, Inc. -$621,110
- Raphael Health Centers - $142, 168
- Shalom Health Care Center - $194,901
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama in February, will create 75,000 jobs across Indiana, including 7,400 in the Seventh Congressional District.
